If The Rider Is No Good, It’s The Horse’s Fault

If the rider is no good, it’s the horse’s fault.

Wenn der Reiter nichts taugt, ist das Pferd schuld.

~ German Proverb

Literal translation: “If the rider is no good, it’s the horse’s fault.”

English equivalent: “A poor craftsman blames his tools.”

Meaning:
When things go wrong, people are often tempted to blame others or external factors for their failure. They don’t want to admit it’s their own fault and take responsibility for their own actions.
