Sode kara kaji.

Literal translation: “A fire from a kimono sleeve.”

English equivalent: “For want of a nail, the kingdom was lost.”

Origin:
In old Japan, all structures, from the humble dwelling to the immense temple, were built in wood so even what started out as a small fire could be a total loss.

Meaning:
Sometimes small things make big problems.
